It's finally that time of year again: cooler weather, beautiful leaves, and a brand new Season of unforgettable music at the ASO. It all begins with "O' Inner Voice" on Saturday, October 4 at 8:00pm and Sunday, October 5 at 3:00pm at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center (NOVA Community College, Alexandria).
Bowen McCauley Dance returns with two of the Company's most striking works: Ralph Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis and Johannes Brahms' Piano Concerto No. I (Mvt. 1). Also joining the ASO for Brahms' Concerto is pianist Jeffery Watson. Currently on the faculty of the Washington Conservatory of Music, Watson has been a soloist with the Honduran National Symphony, Rosario (Argentina) Chamber Orchestra, and the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra with the Kirov Ballet.
In addition to the pieces listed above, the two composers will be explored further in Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on Greensleeves and Brahms' Variations on a Theme by Joseph Haydn. The program is rounded out by Jules Massenet's gorgeous Meditation from Thaïs.
Tickets can be purchased online or by calling 703-548-0885. Don't forget, Sunday matinee youth tickets (ages 8-18) are only $5!
