District Sample Sale
Alexandria savvy shoppers in the know and trend setter boutiques turned out for one of the hot shopping nights of the season, District Sample Sale!
Always a sell out, this year’s ticket sales benefited DC Rape Crisis Center. Brain child of the Label’s for Love, District Sample Sale is one of the fashionable events designed to raise money and awareness.
The bass was bumpin,’cocktails flowing, and the hangers flying as women scoured the racks of discounted designer items. With a mix of must haves and “how is this still here?” garments no one walked away empty handed.
Local fave Hysteria was jam packed with finds including Trina Turk and Tory Burch. Manager Alicia McCaslin patiently helped these frenzied shoppers as if it was a calm day in the Fairfax Street fashion oasis. Uber fashionable owners, Ethan and Lindsey Drath, were on hand to assist clients of both Hysteria and Georgetown’s Sherman Pickey. Special guest designer, Queen Bee Allison Brooks’ devoted clients fought through the masses to score coveted fall transition pieces in red coral and black onyx while meeting this local jewelry diva.
At Periwinkle’s spot ladies snapped up hot pieces to layer for fall looks. I grabbed a super wearable Whish maxi dress in this season’s must have color, purple. With a slightly sporty 70s vibe and accented in mustard, this throw me on dress is perfect paired with a denim or leather jacket, easily peeled off in afternoon heat and tossed back on for evening. I convinced three other district shoppers while in line to purchase…with a vow we should not cross paths again! Until the heat and humidity abate and even after the first wave of crisp fall air blows, keep pulling out your jersey maxi dresses and layer.
Ladies, if you missed out on this sale, stop by the storefronts and check out the sale racks or visit Periwinkle and Hysteria. The next District Sample Sale is slated for March 3, 2009. Check back with Local Kicks for upcoming shopping events.
