Heritage Park in Alexandria

Pocket parks is a great name, since the city picks residents pocket to buy a hunk of land someplace that residents probably can't find and will never use.
 
The only people to benefit are the few neighbors around it--within 500 feet or less according to the city.  The people benefiting should pay for it, not residents and thousands of other legal tax paying residents.

The city wasted more of our money by overpaying, at about $73 per square foot, for the Del Ray lots.  They were assessed by the city at about $47 per square foot.  
 
Next, the City will waste more of our money with meetings and plans and whatever and wind up doing what they want  anyway.  Then there is ongoing maintenance and upkeep and policing.  All for the benefit of a couple of people at the expense of tens of  thousands.  
 
"Think what that million dollars could have done!" writes city resident Joseph Schramm. "Reduce our taxes.  Feed some hungry legal residents.  You get the idea. Dear City, please come over and pay the same per square foot for my lot.  It will make a great park for pockets to play in."
