There is more to – Hooray for Books! – than the books themselves. Hooray for books! exemplifies the final frontier of local small and knowledgeable independent book stores left facing the tough competition of the chain stores such as Barnes and Nobles and Borders.
They are the last breed of book stores catering to your community needs. Ellen Klein and Trish Brown, owners of Horray for Books!, live and breeze children books. At Hooray for Books!, it’s the owners themselves that decide what books to buy based on your (the customer) requests. If you cannot find the book you want, just tell them and they will get it for you. If you don’t know what book to get for you kids, ask them and they will help you find the right book based on your child’s age and interest.
Hooray for Books! was received with love and affection by the Alexandria community who were all saddened by the closure of A likely Story last year. Ellen Klein and Trish Brown hope to continue the 20 year old tradition through their independently owned book store. Ellen Klein got the opportunity to work at - A likely story - before it closed and never rested till she and partner Trish Brown opened their own independent children book store at the same location.
In a time when reading has become the last resort for entertainment, when video games and movies are mostly what our kids want to watch and do for entertainment and where our kids’ imagination is being obstructed by only focusing on visual entertainment, we need Hooray for Books!
We need to work with and encourage our kids to read. Without reading, our kids cannot develop solid writing skills and without having strong reading and writing skills, our kids will never have strong communications skills which are the essence of success.
Hooray for books! has books for children of all ages and is happy to get you any book you want. They also have book readings and will wrap your book (for a gift) for free.
So Hooray for Hooray for Books!
