Home sales are up in Northern Virginia compared to a year ago. Realtors say the region's housing market is still volatile and they can't predict when things will stabilize. The Northern Virginia Association of Realtors tracked the housing trends for the past year. It says October home sales in Greater Northern Virginia and outlying counties jumped 57 percent compared to sales in October 2007, according to WTOP.
