Heavy Traffic at Wilson Bridge

Avoid it at all costs. At least that's what VDOT is saying about driving near the Wilson Bridge this weekend.

From 9:00 p.m. Friday evening, October 3 through 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening, October 4, travelers near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge should prepare for possible delays and new traffic patterns on the Capital Beltway Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) between Route 1 and Telegraph Road. Lanes will be shifted and through traffic reduced at times from three lanes to one, but all entrance and exit ramps in the affected area will remain open. This lane reduction was originally scheduled for the weekend of September 26-27 but was postponed due to weather.

Construction activities will include moving the lanes of traffic to allow for future bridge construction related to the Telegraph Road Interchange, separating access to Telegraph Road North and South exits and changing out sign panels.

Specifically, motorists should be aware of the following changes:
-New traffic pattern on the Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) between Route 1 and Telegraph Road
-The one combined exit for Telegraph Road North and South will be separated into two distinct exits

In the event of inclement weather, the work may be postponed to the weekend of October 10.
