On October 1, Club BV* and partners
LocalKicks.com, America-Georgia Council(www.agbdc.com ), Georgian Wine House (www.georgianwinehouse.com ) and The Carlyle Club are made it well known that they stand
in support of the Republic of Georgia and strongly disapprove of Russia's
aggression towards their democratic neighbor. Says Mari Stull, wine journalist
and founder of Club BV* (aptly *Bon Vivant) "I’m just a wine writer -I'm under
no illusions that I can affect global policy with a martini or glass of wine.
But, I live in arguably the most influential city in the world and some of the
members of Club BV* and readers of LocalKicks.com actually do have an influence
over world issues. The Georgians are but two countries in the world who have
actually pledged to send more troops to Iraq in support of our own soldiers.
They are the fastest growing Democracy in the world, and like Americans did just
over 200 years ago, have fought for their freedom and the right to a Democracy.
In a very small way, we want Georgia and her citizens to know that we're
standing by them."
“This is a wonderful demonstration of
solidarity to small democracy by Club BV*. Georgia and United States have not
much common in terms of history, size or the strength of the power, but we have
te shared values of freedom, friendship, and appreciation of the human dignity.
This event is not against anybody or anything. This event is to show the support
to Georgia’s freedom loving people.” Said Mamuka Tsereteli, President of the
Georgian Association in USA.
$5 Russian-LESS Martinis; $3 Georgian
Wines; $5 ChaChas (Georgian Grappa) were served from 6 - 10 at The Carlyle
Club at 411 John Carlyle Street; Alexandria, VA.
Proceeds did benefit
Georgian Association in
USA, Inc, the oldest Georgian group in US established in 1932 by the Georgian
patriots who escaped Bolshevik Russian invasion of Georgia in
1921.
