Movie reviews - Alexandria Virginia
First I want to emphasize that we are not claiming that movies are bad since they are not out yet but from looking at the trailers, they look pretty bad.
With all the money invested in movie trailers, you sometimes wonder what movie producers where thinking when they rolled those trailers out.
Righteous Kill – Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino – September 12th, 2008
There’s no doubt that “Righteous Kill” features a powerhouse cast — Robert De Niro and Al Pacino alone makes this movie. It’s officially their second movie together, but this time they’re sharing more than a cup of coffee in a diner. The cast also features rapper .50 Cent, Brian Dennehy, John Leguizamo and Donnie Wahlberg. The Plot: Two veteran New York City detectives (Robert De Niro and Al Pacino) work to identify the possible connection between a recent murder and a case they believe they solved years ago; is there a serial killer on the loose, and did they perhaps put the wrong person behind bars?

Ok I am a big fan of both Al Pacino and DeNiro especially in the Godfather and even in Heat. The only problem - they are both washed out. In the last few years, they both have been involved in movie bombs and their act is getting old. If you love Al Pacino’s shouting stunts and DeNiro intense looks but with no substance then maybe you will love their new movie. The trailer is boring and the only thing that came out of my mouth after watching it was “not again”. Please retire…
Nights in Rodanthe – Richard Gere and Diane Lane – September 26th, 2008
Unfaithful was great so lets get those two actors again and hence Nights in Rodanthe was born. You don’t need to watch the movie it is all in the trailer. Lane stars as Adrienne Willis, a woman with her life in chaos who retreats to the tiny coastal town of Rodanthe, in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, to tend to a friend’s inn for the weekend. Here she hopes to find the tranquility she so desperately needs to rethink the conflicts surrounding her — a wayward husband who has asked to come home, and a teenaged daughter who resents her every decision. Almost as soon as Adrienne gets to Rodanthe, a major storm is forecast and a guest named Dr. Paul Flanner (Gere) arrives. The only guest at the inn, Flanner is not on a weekend escape but rather is there to face his own crisis of conscience.

They fall in love and listen to bad music but now they have to face reality and their own problems. At the end their love for each other solves all their problems and their kids are in love with their parents again. It is all in the trailer. The movie looks very predictable. It is a perfect movie for those slow, rainy, hung-over Sundays on the life channel.
More to come next week…
