| Tim Robinson |
By John Arundel Managing Editor In a world as cut-throat and fast paced as ours, is romance dead? Young Alexandria writer Jason Timothy Robinson proves that the answer to this question is no. Robinson has just published a book entitled: "The Image of Love," a collection of love poems.
“The poems express my innermost feelings and emotions,” said Robinson, 26, an Alexandria middle school teacher. “I have feelings on the inside, and my poems are manifestations of them." Robinson was born in Brooklyn, but grew up in Orangeburg, SC. In 1999, he graduated from Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, after which he graduated in 2004 from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English.
Afterwards, he attended Hampton University where he received an M.A. in Teaching in Secondary Education. He plans to pursue his Ph.D. in English and African-American Studies and become a college professor.
"My interests are in Black History, politics, and poetry," he said. "I am also very passionate about education and have a great love for writing."
His favorite poets are Maya Angelou, William Shakespeare, and Edgar Allan Poe. Besides poetry, he writes children’s books, short stories, nonfiction, and screenplays. In the near future, Alexander hopes to publish a series of children’s books and nonfiction books. "I really do love writing," he said.
