What is a day at the Polo grounds without a refreshing glass of vino?  

The Australian Embassy wet the whistle of local American Polo players and fans, who will join in friendly competition as Team USA takes on Team Australia in the Land Rover America’s Polo Cup on May 8 and 9 at Capitol Polo Club in Potomac, MD.

Local Virginia wineries, including Oasis and Mediterranean Cellars turned out to taste local varietals alongside wines from Australia.

In the spirit of friendly competition, ladies donned polo chic attire for the chance to walk away with the evening’s title of best dressed and a case of wine. After a ritual dance performed at the Australian Embassy, the party moved to Josephine’s for early Halloween revelry into the wee hours.

The party continues with the Battle of the Coral Sea Gala and Fashion Show on May 8 with a special performance by American Idol Superstar Michael Johns and more fantastic Virginia and Australian wines.
