FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA. - Visiting national war memorials is commonplace for Washington, DC area residents, but there are veterans across the country that have never been to them. Military veterans are some of the nation's greatest treasures, and helping them get to D.C.'s memorials is a memorable way to thank them for their service.

Honor Flight Chicago flies WWII and Korean War veterans from Chicago to Washington, D.C. free of cost so they can visit war memorials. An estimated 53,000 WWII and Korean War veterans live in the Chicago area, and Honor Flight Chicago hopes to reach every one of them.

On Wednesday morning, Fairfax County Police were among those welcoming 109 veterans at the gate at Dulles International Airport.
