ALEXANDRIA, VA. - Imagine a Mumbai style attack, with multiple threats and targets, here in the National Capital Region; how would local, state and federal agencies coordinate their responses?
The Fairfax County Police Department SWAT team and Criminal Justice Academy staff have been holding a new series of trainings aimed at strengthening officer readiness large scale terror attacks.
Terrorist tactics are continually changing, requiring adaptations in intelligence-driven training for police officers across the National Capital Region (NCR). The new training addresses on-scene leadership, communication and coordination, and strategic response to an attack launched in multiple locations. It’s the first of its kind in the National Capital Region.
OnFriday, the Fairfax County Police showed the mediascenarios that included surprise attacks, simulated gunfire, and highlighted squad responses to simultaneous incidents involving rescuing downed officers at a school, a daycare and other public locales
