Life is messy, Day 331.

Dear Merrily,

It's a MESS in my life so why do I feel so sane? My husband got a new route at work for $10,000/year less, two of the people I clean for can't afford me anymore, the boys (14 and 19) are constantly at war. God keeps telling me to get my GED but I can't see the use of it in this economy. Am I just drifting?

Dear Drifting,

God tells you to get your GED and you answer that you “can’t see the use of it in this economy?”

Wow!  I guess if you talk back to God you would talk back to anybody.  (Are you related to Moses?)

Have you ever wonder if God’s perspective could possibly be broader than yours?  What if He/She/It knows that right around the corner there is a “use for the GED” that is not yet apparent to you?  Buy the GED study guide and begin your review.  Consider that the 2 clients were removed from your schedule for a reason – maybe to provide study time.  Rest assured that education is never wasted.

The economy’s ups and downs are cyclical (say Ben Bernanke, Ric Edelman, history).  When the roller coaster goes back up, you could be ready with your GED in hand for that opportunity around the corner.

Since you feel sane as life is a MESS around you, you must be on solid ground rather than drifting.  You are rooted to something.  What is it?

Please write back when you have the GED, and you “see the use of it.”

Remember that chance favors the prepared mind.
