Forks Up! City's Inaugural Restaurant Week to Feature 60 Players

ALEXANDRIA, VA. -Why not go big fast? With the overwhelming success of DC's Restaurant Week every July the City of Alexandria takes a nod from its neighbor with its first-ever summer Alexandria Restaurant Week rolling out August 20-29, with more than 60 local eateries ready to serve up $35 menus.
 
The restaurants throughout the city will feature either a $35 prix-fixe three-course dinner or $35 dinner for two; a $3.50 sweet treat is offered at participating local bakeries, chocolatiers and dessert shops.

"We coordinate and market this event which is free for participating restaurants," said Stephanie Brown, the ACVA's president. "In addition to serving as an economic driver for Alexandria restaurants, Restaurant Week builds the Alexandria brand as it helps the city become known as a culinary destination."

Many of the city's favorite foodie establishments are participating including Bastille, La Bergerie, The Grille at The Morrison House, Del Merei Grille, Geranio, A La Lucia, Tempo, Cheesetique, FireFlies, Fontaine Caffé & Creperie, Grape + Bean and ACKC Cocoa Bar.

This 10-day gourmet and gourmand event enables residents and visitors to enjoy tantalizing multi-course meals and distinctive treats prepared especially for the occasion showcasing the inventive culinary diversity offered throughout the city. "From fabulous fine dining to casual neighborhood favorites and tasty little delights, Alexandria Restaurant Week offers something for everyone," Brown effuses.

"The August event is the first time Alexandria Restaurant Week has been offered in the summer," Brown said. "The success of two winter restaurant weeks, held in 2009 and 2010, brought about a summer event by popular demand from both diners and restaurateurs."
