FOOD NOTES/ Free Mug Night at Whitlow's on Wilson

ARLINGTON, VA.  – Whitlow’s On Wilson,  the beloved Clarendon neighborhood hotspot, announces an exciting new craft beer program complete with 12 new bottled microbrews including local favorites Flying Dog Ale and Ale Werks.

To kick off Whitlow’s new craft beer program, the bar & grill will celebrate the launch with its 12 year-long tradition of  “Mug Night” on Thursday, July 15th  and will hand out free take-home beer mugs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mugs receive $1.50 refills from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. every Thursday during Whitlow’s weekly Mug Night promotion.

Whitlow’s on Wilson, long renowned for its extensive bar selection and lively environment, is showing its support for micro breweries and has implemented an ever-expanding bottled craft beer program starting with 12 craft brews.
Beers such as the Gonzo Imperial Stout from Frederick, MD-based Flying Dog, Chesapeake Pale Ale from Williamsburg, VA-based Ale Werks and La Fin Du Monde from Quebec’s Unibroue will join the bar’s existing draft and bottled beer list.

To kick off Whitlow’s new craft beer program, the bar will host its famous Mug Night – a 12 year-long tradition where patrons can either bring in their Whitlow’s mug or purchase one for $1.50 and receive $1.50 refills from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Thursdays. On Thursday, July 15th, Whitlow’s will give away free mugs for two hours from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to everyone at the bar who asks for one.

Mug Night has long been a tradition at Whitlow’s and continues every Thursday from 4-9 p.m. More than 12 years ago, Whitlow’s used to allow patrons to bring in any size “mug” to be filled – this included trophies, pitchers, buckets, and anything else customers tried to justify was “mug” size. Due to changing Alcoholic Beverage Control laws, Whitlow’s has since adjusted its specials but still offers the same long-standing Thursday tradition and unbeatable beer specials.
