ALEXANDRIA, VA. -  Here’s a fun way to give back to our less fortunate four-legged friends.  The Ninth Annual Sugar and Champagne Affair, whose charming hosts Todd and Ellen Gray of Equinox Restaurant and Salamander Hospitality will be barking up a storm at the Ritz Carlton, 1150 22nd Street, NW, in the District on Wednesday, Jan. 27.

Top DC area chefs will be showing off their most heavenly desserts while champagnes and sparklers from around the globe will wet your posh whistles.  All to honor the Washington Humane Society officers who care for homeless, lost, stray and abused animals.

Your precious pooch (non-retractable leash, please) is encouraged to attend and specially-prepared doggie treats will tempt him at every turn.

The evening’s special honoree is DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier, a huge supporter of WHS, who is the proud owner of five blind dogs.  Katie Githens will be there to autograph her book, “The Dog Lover’s Companion to Washington, DC.”  What could be a better gift to your dog-loving friends...
