It's no surprise that Del Ray is represented well in local food contests. Now there's another restaurant that locals can be proud of.

Lena's is a semifinalist, along with FireWorks Pizza (Arlington and Leesburg), Pomodoro (Fairfax) and Ciao Osteria (Centreville). Each day, two restaurant face off, and the public can vote from 9 a.m. to midnight. On Thursday, July 27, Lena's is competing against FireWorks Pizza.

The finalists will square off on Friday, July 28, and the winner will be announced Monday, July 31. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

Lena's opened in 2015 across from the Braddock Road Metro. Named after owner Jason Yates' mother Lena, the restaurant seeks to provide the family's vision of a neighborhood destination for the family. It's well known for its Neapolitan pizza and other delicacies like its giant meatballs.
