Pepco’s Edison Place Gallery was the scene for Tap Water DC’s launch of UNICEF’s World Water Week , a collaboration with regional restaurants that will be in participating area restaurants between March 22 through March 28.

The gallery walls were covered with local artists interpretations of the importance of water to Third World countries.

Rachael Swanson, program manager and representative for UNICEF and based in New York, in town with some of the UNICEF staff and volunteers, was thrilled at the turnout and the auction sales of the artworks. “The Something Beautiful gallery event exceeded our expectations and really helped UNICEF accomplish our goals of providing clean and safe water for the world’s children,” she said.

With dozens of restaurants involved in the effort look for your favorite spot to ask if you’ll mind a charge of $1 per glass of water this week.

Just say, “Yes, thanks.” It’s for a good cause.
