ALEXANDRIA, VA. -  What better way to spend a summer weekend than sipping wine and tasting local foods on the waterfront? The sixth annual Vine on the Waterfront Festival returns to the Old Town Alexandria waterfront on Saturday, June 24. The event will run from noon to 6 p.m. at Oronoco Bay Park (100 Madison St).

This year, the event is expanding to include food vendors and wineries in Alexandria, the DC area and throughout Virginia. The event is free, but tickets are needed to sample food and beverages. Tickets are $15 for food sampling and $15 for wine sampling. After June 18th, tickets will be $20 each.

There will also be contests for the best appetizer, the best main course and the best dessert. These will be judged by Jen Richer from The Tommy Show on 94.7FM, Molly Ahearn of The List Are You On It & Foodie & the Beast and others to be announced.

The Alan Scott Band and Andy Hawk & The Train Wreck Endings will provide live entertainment. For children, there will be a moon bounce, as well as art and crafts sponsored by local organizations.
