| I have so many memories of The Coach Stop.
My mother and I enjoyed sitting at one of the deuces and both of us would order the crab cake sandwich and iced tea. The crab was Chesapeake Blue crab - prepared and tasted just right. Id ask for cocktail sauce on the side. Mother would often retell a favorite story. Once a long while back, she lit up a cigarette, and felt prompted to say to the closest patron to her, I hope you dont mind if I smoke, to which the lady responded, Here in Middleburg, we do what we want.
My late husband I would order lunch, again - at one of the deuces, and enjoy each others company before shopping later. We lingered and enjoyed the atmosphere.
I never sat in the half-circle-shaped booths along the wall, but I always enjoyed the people watching. There would be locals as well as out-of-towners. And usually a few characters that would catch my attention.
At the end of my meal, I would always have to go to the ladies room. The bathroom was small, appeared to be an afterthought (like youd find in someones basement), and located a step from the dining room. It was always cold and hardly private because just outside the door was the service station where youd hear the rattle of knives and folks being gathered to set the next table. But it was sufficient.

| Remember Cafe Le Rat back in the day? I saw Liz Taylor there. She had quiche Lorraine, frisee aux lardons, duck confit, mousse au chocolat and TWO cheese platters. Or maybe that's what I ordered...Anyway, it was during Liz's most zaftig days with John Warner.
