WARRENTON, VA. - A few brave and committed souls, or perhaps just a few brave souls who should be committed, faced down the sultry heat last at Hillsborough Farm in Warrenton for an event to benefit the Wounded Warrior Foundation.

A Ford Shelby Mustang is being driven across the lower 48 states to raise awareness and funds for the cause, and it was on hand in all of its dusty glory, festooned with hundreds of signatures from supporters.
Its drivers and foundation supporters, Lt. Gen John B. Sylvester, USA Ret, Maj. Gen. Arnold Fields, USMC Ret., and Col. John Folson USMCR Ret were present for the festivities.
"This is street level engagement with the American people about the families of our Wounded Warriors," Folson said. "Thousands of soldiers have been wounded since 2001."
Supporters were treated to wine and cheese, Jack Russell Terrier races and a polo match, called by Doc Seagar.
However, after just one chukker of polo, Mother Nature reared her head in the form of a powerful thunderstorm, with gale force winds, lightning, and the ensuing rain.

The assembled made a valiant and successful effort to batten down the tent top lest it blow away, then took shelter in one of the properties' voluminous barns.
Hosts Debbie and Alan Nash proceeded with the pork barbecue, and all were delighted by a a spontaneous performance on the sax by Grammy nominated musician Ski Johnson, who jumped on a Ford Tractor and began to play.
More Jack Russell races and polo in Warrenton to come: Don't miss the big event on September 8 at Chetwood Farm to support the Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding program. The NVTRP benefits veterans who have been wounded in combat, as well as other disabled people. Visit www.NVTRP.org.
