FOOD NOTES/Union Street Public House Gets Its Grill On

Union Street Public House is holding Old Town Alexandria’s first ever Great Grill Out on Thursday, July 30 beginning at 7:00pm.  

Make plans now to enjoy an array of fresh summer vegetables, seafood, lobster, steaks and more, all grilled and paired with a selection of beers and wines.  The cost is only $49 per person, including tax and tip.

The evening will start with Chef Michael Soper’s Grilled Homemade Breads served with Fresh Heirloom Tomato Salsa, followed by the Summer Grilled and Chilled Salad – grilled romaine with roasted white corn, red peppers and Vidalia onions, topped with Maytag blue cheese vinaigrette.  

The main course will feature a choice of entrees from the Union Street Grill.  Meat eaters can chose the hangar steak, tender quail and Mike’s House Country Sausage.  Those that prefer seafood will get fresh sea scallops, wild halibut and succulent lobster tail.  

All entrée selections come to the table with a platter of Grilled Summer Vegetables served with a side of Olive Oil and Fresh Herb Vinaigrette.  To finish, even dessert finds its way to the grill with toasty Grilled Pound Cake, with vanilla ice cream and fresh seasonal berries.   

And for the summer, Union Street is offering Maryland Blue Crab Feasts every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the Oyster Bar.  Big Boys are available by the dozen and mediums are all you can eat; they come with a side of hushpuppies and iced cold beer by the pitcher and bucket.

Union Street Public House is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week and features a weekend brunch on Saturday and Sunday.
