ALEXANDRIA, VA - Walk, Don’t Run. Who even says that anymore?

Philip De-Bodene of Alexandria believes the saying should be: “Run, Don’t Walk.” De-Bodene realizes that walking is boring, and kids love to run.

Kidshoos only sources from suppliers that
employ fair labor and no children in the
manufacturing processes. Some of the sites’
suppliers include Rocket Dog, Birki’s
Kids, Edgie Veggies and Bobux.

With all of the wear and tear that children’s shoes endure throughout the day from catching the school bus to recess time to walking the dog, De-Bodene and his wife Kristin decided to start a children’s shoe business in Alexandria that lives up to the highest shoe standards for both parents and their kids.

Kidshoos.com is a new children’s shoe Web site dedicated to decreasing their carbon footprint, ensuring that child labor is brought to an end, supporting small, privately-owned companies and giving back to the community -- all while offering stylish and affordable products.

“We are like them, parents and family that want great value, choices, great service and above all the knowledge that someone has taken the time to look for products that will be sourced from suppliers utilizing sustainable processes and materials,” De-Bodene said.

“We are not out to make our fortune, but we are out to pursue our dream of running a business that we believe in and that we are passionate about,” De-Bodene said who is preparing to donate 300 pairs of shoes from Kidshoos to an adoption agency in the District.

Through August and September, Kidshoos will be donating 10 percent of their total sales to the Biliary Atresia research at the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Liver Center. Awareness for the syndrome hits home for De-Bodene as one of his good friend’s daughter in Alexandria has they syndrome.

All of Kidshoos’ suppliers are given a supplier manual that states the requirements that they have to meet.

“Our products are all from small companies that share our philosophies,” De-Bodene said.

To top things off, all of the shoes from Kidshoos are wear-tested by De-Bodene’s own 7- and 10-year-olds, along with their cousins, neighbors, playmates, classmates and teammates.

“Kidshoos is ours and it is influenced by our own kids who help us choose, test and name our products,” he said. “Kidshoos is for the customer and it cares about them and their child's needs. Kidshoos has values that I believe are genuine, that convey our sense of responsibility and that are true to our original desires for our company."

So, kids, here's the new mantra: Run, Don’t walk.
