ALEXANDRIA, VA. -- Over the weekend I had the opportunity to walk the runway as a SUPER MODEL.

That's right, this 33-year old mother and business woman got to strut her stuff at the Embassy of Italy at the 4th Annual Fashion For Paws runway show benefitting the Washington Humane Society.

In order to walk the runway each of the models was asked to raise at least $3,000.  Those who raised more than $5,000 were elevated to the status of super model.

What a hoot!

Through the generous donations of my friends, family, and supporters I raised $5,500 for the Humane Society.  Through the generosity of many, many donors WHS raised a total of $325,000 for the homeless animals of our nation's capitol.

I have to say this special night was was kind of a dream come true for me - strutting the catwalk in front of 1,200 plus well heeled Washingtonians.

Are you kidding?  I would be a super model?!?!  I have been attending New York Fashion Week for years -- ogling the gorgeous models on the runways, I have watched Miss America longingly since I was a child, and I have always loved to play dress up - and on this special night it felt like I was able to have all three experiences.

Instead of donning a crown or tiara I was able to wear a gorgeous custom Queen Bee Designs necklace and bracelet set with my Tadashi ball gown from Saks Fifth Avenue.  I felt so very glamorous and I could not stop smiling!

Dr. Dondi Dahlgaard raised $25,250,breaking all fundraising records for the history of the event. Dahlgaard and her Chihuahua ChiliBeyonce said in remarks before the show that they were just “happy to help other dogs find loving homes.”

The 60 models included MIX 107.3 DJ Tommy McFly, WUSA's Angie Goff, Politico’s Kiki Ryan, Capitol File’s Sarah Schaffer, Washington Life’s Michael Clements,  PR maven Wendy Gordon, Fox5’s Steve Chenevey, former White House Press Secretary Dana Perino, ABC7's Pamela Brown, Andrea Rodgers of Ask Miss A, Taryn Fielder, Micky Farivar of The Peacock Cafe, Kathryn Minor, Susan Roberts, Lana Orloff, and Philippe Cousteau.

Chaired by Amanda Polk, with executive committee co-chairs Windy Shepard and Heather Guay, the evening was anchored by emcee Pamela Sorensen.

The show was beautifully produced by Aba Kwawu of The Aba Agency, who just so happens be seven months pregnant with her second child!

This year, Tysons Galleria retailers Saks Fifth Avenue, Betsey Johnson, Seven for All Mankind, Karen Millen, Ermenegildo Zegna, Nicole Miller, Basler, Liljenquist & Beckstead and Cole Haan dominated the runway.

My experience as a fund-raising model taught me about the generosity of other people -- the love they have for their friends they were supporting or the love they have for animals.  It was a great night and will forever be grateful to the Director of Fashion for Paws - Tara de Nicolas and the wonderful team she assembled.

Now the only question is what will I wear next year - maybe I can borrow Courtney Caldwell's outfit from Betsey Johnson.
