ALEXANDRIA, VA. – As we are transitioning from our Spring into Summer wardrobes, it's time to look at just how fashion conscious we are all seem to becoming in the DC area, with events like the annual Belle Haven Women's Club Fashion Show, the first ever showing of DKNY's entire collection in Washington, the premiere of Sex and the City 2 and Frank Fannon's annual barbeque.

More than ever this spring, Washingtonians are stepping out in high style and hoping to create a splash with their attire and fashion savvy as they make their mark on our nation's capitol.

The ladies of Alexandria were treated to one of the most well choreographed fashion shows ever seen by The Belle Haven Women's Club for the BHWC Annual Dinner and Fashion Presentation.

Put together by Event Chair Denise Constandy, the ladies were treated to a spectacular  Resort Wear Fashion Show with designs from Hysteria, The Shoe Hive , J. McLaughlin and jewelry from Queen Bee Designs.

The official purpose of the meeting was to elect the new officers - President- Reae Sargeant, Vice-President - Kara Cosby, Treasurer - Sally Murphy, Corresponding Secretary - Eleni Silverman and Recording Secretary - Molly Singerling - who were all elected by a unanimous vote.

Models included: Jo Hyman, Kim Gess, Sara Wolcott, Stephanie Stack, Loran Aiken, Denise Constandy, Angela Batchelder, Maggie Jackson, Ashley Jones, Abigail Singerling, Margaret Sargeant, Camp Kaufmann, Craig Shapero, John Carter, Mary Elizabeth Duke, Ann Duke, Katherine Schmidt.

The male models especially put on a show for the audience including dancing around the stage with colorful boas - it was a hoot - I know their wives are sorry their missed seeing their husband's in all their glory!

For the first time ever, the popular line DKNY -- created by fashion designer Donna Karan showed its entire Spring 2010 collection in Washington, D.C.  The second annual Couture for a Cure was held at the Woolly Mammoth Theatre here in Washington -- just steps away from the Verizon Center.

The event was the brain-child of Nadine Namoff and her husband  Bryan Namoff, a D.C. United soccer player, who as part of their commitment to raising funds for Nadine's Woman of the Year Campaign to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, assembled designers to outfit an impressive cast of local athletes, models and cancer survivors to walk the runway for a cancer cure.

This event raises over $20,000 and gather an impressive turnout of more than 450 guests.  Event co-organizer,  Makeda Saggau-Sackey was thrilled by the success of the event, "It is such a big deal for Washington to have DKNY's collection shown here.  We are all thrilled to have this fashion power house debut it's Spring 2010 line here.  What an honor - and all for such a great cause!"

Hundreds of Washington's most fashionable ladies (and a few brave gentleman) took over Georgetown last week for a special Sex and the City pre-screening party at the Ritz Georgetown and Mate’, and the after party at L2 Lounge in Cady’s Alley.

The ladies were decked out in their most stylish attire and toted swag bags from Fresh boutique (the host) which included: Equinox water bottles, full size, Serendipity chocolate bars (soon to open in Georgetown), Mercedes-Benz key chains, and Hudson gift cards. Swank new Mercedes-Benz car shuttles provided by Euro Motorcars included Maybach models and S Classes like in the movie. DC Film Commissioner Kathy Hollinger gave remarks at the theater.

The film has recently opened nation-wide to mixed reviews -- it is one of the top movies just behind Shrek Forever After.

The haute host committee for this particular screening included - Rachel Cothran, Kate Michael, Kim Brown, Micky Farivar, Nycci Safier Nellis, Nicole Venable, Elaine Mensah, Allison Priebe Brooks, Stephanie Green, McLean Robbins, Lana Orloff, Makeda Saggau-Sackey, Marti Hines, Kelly Collis Fredrick, Mary Amons, Lisa Marie Spengler, Samantha Sault and Pamela Sorensen.

The beneficiary of the event was Labels for Love - a charity that stages fashionable events to raise funds for and bring awareness to women's and children's charities.

The first Luke’s Wings Casino Royale was held at L2 in Georgetown over the weekend. Luke’s Wings is a charity that raises funds to provide air travel to families of wounded service members who are in and out of military hospitals.

Founders Sarah Wingfield and Fletcher Gill created their organization after meeting a special veteran at Walter Reed named Luke. Attendees of the event enjoyed specialty cocktails, gourmet hors d'ourves and a night of casino gambling complete with tables, games, and dealers.

Welcome to June, dear readers - continue to make your mark on the town whether it be at a fashionable movie premiere, at a charity casino gambling event, a fashion show, or pool-side.

The Summer sun is starting to peak shine over us - and we best look our best while we are out in it!
