ALEXANDRIA, VA. - British accountant Henry Perkins is on his way home from work one day, carrying his briefcase.

Johnson (Slater)

Or rather, what he thinks is his briefcase.

It so turns out that his own case has somehow been mixed up with another, identical case containing 735,000 pounds Sterling.

He stops in a pub to celebrate, returning to a stall in the men's room to count the money.  When he reappears from the loo with a satisfied smile on his face, off-duty detective Officer Davenport assumes that Perkins has been "soliiciting men," and follows him home for questioning.

Laughs ensue as Perkins returns home with the money and a plan to escape to Barcelona.  The comedy builds as Perkins attempts to conceal the money, and yet more and more people find out and want to also move to Barcelona and live the high and easy life.

Erik Harrison as Perkins plays the lines and the slapstick to a T, and is supported by a strong and seasoned cast.  Each one carries the pace, timing, and persona essential to make the laughs keep coming.  Direction is by Shawn g. Byers, who has directed other community theater since 2008.

The Little Theatre has been on a roll with British plays lately.

But lest you think this is a rut, there is a good reason why British comedy, or farce, has a cult following, and the Little Theatre does it well.  This light-hearted romp will play until September 29.
