It’s Harvest Time at the Corn Maze

Alexandria, Virginia - While rural Virginia seems to be disappearing rapidly, here is an opportunity to revel in our agricultural heritage in the great outdoors at the Plains, VA at the 10th Annual Corn Maze and Fall Festival.

Open September 26th to November 8th, every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, this “Green” Fall Festival features a huge 5-acre corn maze and fresh local produce, including thousands of pumpkins. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., kids of all ages can enjoy the corn maze plus a moonlight maze on Friday and Saturday from 6-10 p.m.

Hayrides, pumpkin picking, live entertainment, and a picnic area make this a destination sure to please the entire family for less than the price of movie tickets: admission is $9 for adults and $8 for 12 and under. Infants up to 3 are free.

Offerings include 2.5 miles of pathways through the corn with puzzles, and map-making stations (grab a rescue flag in case you get lost); on Sundays catch a hayride to the Archwood green Barns Farmers Market; a barnyard area with slides, mini mazes, an obstacle course, tire swings, a petting zoo, a hay pit, and more; a country store with local products such as pumpking pie fudge, apple butter, pumpkin butter, fresh baked pies, cider, and fall produce including loads of pumpkins; and local grass fed beef burgers, sweet corn, fresh cider, kettle corn, and other items.

The corn maze at the Plains has been featured as the best in the area by the Washington Post, the Washington Times, and several community papers. During weekends in October, there will be other activities during the festival, including face painting and pumpkin painting, corn husk doll making workshops, musicians and jugglers.
