ALEXANDRIA, VA. - In a Beverly Hills basement, massive speakers blast reggae music to an audience of old mattresses, tools and piles of laundry. This is the workshop and practice space for Feel Free, a raggae band that has developed a loyal following in Alexandria.
After working on some of their new songs, Evan Hulehan, Andrew Pfeiffer, Bryan Frank, Garrett Clausen and Colin Cantfil jokingly talk about the group’s inception. “Well we used to jam going back to like 7th grade,” Hulehan, now 21, says, pointing to Frank and Pfeiffer. “Then in high school, Andrew and I kept playing a little. I played with Carbon Copy. Bryan was mostly just sitting around picking his nose. It was really after we graduated high school that it really started to come together.”
