ALEXANDRIA, VA. -
As fall foliage emerges, Alexandria’s historic brick-lined streets are the perfect backdrop for the City’s fall festival season, filled with outdoor art festivals, Halloween haunts, events to toast the season and more. Plus, the tall ship Godspeed from Jamestown visits in October as part of the Portside in Old Town Festival celebrating the opening of a greatly expanded new park area at the foot of King Street.

Alexandria welcomes autumn with more than 60 seasonal events. Art and craft lovers converge for annual highlights like the King Street Art Festival, Mount Vernon’s Colonial Market & Fair and Del Ray’s  Art on the Avenue. October features spooky stories and historic haunts with events such as Zombie Escape at Carlyle House, The Anniversary of the Female Stranger’s Death at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum and Escape the Sanderson Witches at Carlyle House. For those who prefer the other kind of spirits, don’t miss Art on Tap at The Art League, A Mansion House Whiskey Tasting at Carlyle House, the Fall Wine Festival and Sunset Tour at George Washington’s Mount Vernon and the Alexandria Cider Festival. You can also take care of your mind and body with the inaugural Old Town Waterfront Fitness + Wellness Festival.
