ALEXANDRIA, VA. - It was another busy week in our fair city. We may have been suffocating in the heat, but we were still very much on the go,

The city's businesspeople on the go gathered at Connect 113 for the Alexandria Chamber’s July Business After Hours last Thursday and then some of the same people joined others for the Washington Business Journal’s Breakfast at Union Street Public House on Friday morning for some more networking.

Chana Morrow, marketing and reservations agent from Connect 113, spoke about their newly opened company which provides collaborative work space conveniently located to all businesses located on King Street in Historic Old Town. Monterey’s Gourmet Pizza provided pizzas, salads and other goodies for the event.

Alexandria Chamber President and CEO Tina Leone announced that the Chamber has signed up 300 members just in the last few months.

On Friday morning, Washington Business Journal Publisher Alex Orfinger, along with editors Doug Fruehling, Melissa Castro and reporters and ad reps from the weekly paper came together at Union Street Public House for their annual Breakfast with the Business Journal.

About 75 people gathered for a light breakfast and some great networking with the staff of the Journal. Orfinger gave his signature welcome to the guests, standing on one of the benches, and introduced the members of his staff who were in attendance. This gave everybody a chance to connect with the reporters and editors covering their respective beats.

On Saturday, hundreds of people gathered at National Harbor to watch Red Bull athletes and professional wakeboarders Brian Grubb, Parks Bonifay, JD Webb, Adam Errington and Taylor Ewing soar though the air. They wowed the crowd with wild airs and double-overhead sprays of the Potomac River.

It was a festive air with Red Bull tents giving out free drinks t-shirts and prizes. After the hour-and-a-half show, wakeboarders were on hand to sign autographs and then went over to the Cadillac Ranch.

Later that same day, Market Square was moving – to dance music. Dance instructors Courtney Betzel and Gennifer Lisenby gathered with West Potomac dance team members and local community members to participate in National Dance Day, and event that was being launched on FOX Network of ‘So You Think You Can Dance!’ with dances held all over the country that same day.
