WASHINGTON, DC. - What do Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and The Rolling Stones have in common?

Septime Webre, of course.

The Washington Ballet's energetic and out-of-the-box-thinking artistic director Septime Webre tells us that's what he has on tap for the ballet's new season.

"We will be doing Romeo and Juliet to The Rolling Stones," Webre told me last Friday at the ballet's signature annual event, the Jete Dance Party. "It is going to be unbelieveable...Unlike anything Washington has seen before."

The Washington Ballet's Jete Society is a group of energetic and fun young professionals who support the ballet year around.

On April 23 they celebrated the talented company of Washington Ballet dancers with their signature annual event,  the annual Jete Dance Party.

This is one of the most anticipated parties of the year and since the orginial date had been moved because of the February blizzards, this grand affair was held at the House of Sweden and the air was positively electric.

Kudos to Winston Bao Lord and Ashley Taylor on their work with the Jete Society on this spectacular sold-out affair.

Many of us are already planning our outfits for next year's party.  The after party this year was held at  City Tavern Club and from what I hear it was jumping til at least 3 a.m.

The Jete Society's next event  is May 12, Beer and Ballet, where patrons can attend a working rehearsel of the Washington Ballet.

Those interested in the event or who'd like to get more involved with Jete, which is geared to the 21- 45 year old set, may visit their web site here.

Eco Chic at the Corcoran

Last week at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the stars aligned on the eve of Earth Day to bring together pioneers of the environmental movement in fashion, art, beauty, architecture, and interior design to celebrate an inaugural event, “Eco Chic: Night of Stars and Rising Stars.”

The event, held on the eve of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, was the first of its kind; promoting awareness of Eco and Ethical Design, while recognizing the efforts of a few key professionals on their pursuit of excellence through eco-conscious design.

The concept for the Eco Chic soiree came from the book called Eco Chic: The Savvy Shopper’s Guide to Ethical Fashion by author Matilda Lee.

The book educates readers on the process of making sustainable and environmentally friendly choices while purchasing goods, and also provides first hand accounts of how the industry is changing through the eyes of top fashion designers and industry makers.

The Greater Washington DC regional chapter of Fashion Group International  was inspired by Lee's Book and created these awards and this amazing night of rising stars.  Rachel Cothran of the Corcoran Gallery of Art was thrilled to host The Eco Chic Awards event, "This is a very special occasion and we are proud to be a part of this event at The Corcoran."

The sun tried to shine over Georgetown for the Annual Georgetown House Tour, the nation's oldest on-going house tour celebrating over 90 years.  The Georgetown House Tour  benefits the ministries of St. John's Episcopal Church and many commented these were some of Georgetown's most beautiful homes and impressive gardens ever on the tour.

Missed this year's house tour?  You can still check out the Washington, DC Design House - benefitting Children's National Medical Center.

One of Alexandria's favorite Designers, Shazalynn Cavin-Winfrey of SCW Interiors is a proud participant in this year's Design House, "The house looks great and we are really excited for people to come and tour the home."  Details can be found at http://www.dcdesignhouse.com
Ready to be Winded?

Whoo....Lots going on this month and through May.

We are especially looking forward to a few events coming up this week:  PROJECT: ARBOR DAY (a Cherry Blossom Art Soirée), the Junior League's Spring Soiree, The Landon Azaelea Festival , The White House Correspondent parties, and the Kennedy Center's Spring Gala -- just to name a few!

This town is BUZZING and so is this Queen Bee.
