ALEXANDRIA, VA. - This upcoming weekend, Old Town Alexandria will transform into an outdoor art gallery. More than 200 local and national artists will gather in Old Town at the Alexandria King Street Art Festival. The festival is celebrating its 15 anniversary and will be held Saturday, Sept. 16 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 17 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Held on King Street between Washington Street and the Potomac River waterfront, the event is free and open to the public.

A mind-boggling $15 million in art will be on display. Artists will be selling fine jewelry, paintings, life-sized sculptures, glasswork, photography, hand-crafted clothing, decor and more. All artists will be on site for art enthusiasts that are curious about the inspiration behind the work.

Artists are selected to join the festival from a panel of judges among hundreds of applicants. The selection process ensures a variety of art forms and price ranges will be offered at the festival.

There are also fun interactive activities, including The Art League’s popular Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser. Attendees can purchase handmade bowls and a scoop of ice cream for $15, with the proceeds benefiting The Art League. Participants in the Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser can enter a free drawing to win ceramic artwork and an Art League gift certificate.

Leashed pets are welcome. Free metered parking is available on Sundays in Old Town. For more information on the festival, visit the Alexandria King Street Art Festival website.
