ACPS Students Preform With Alexandria Symphony Orchestra

ALEXANDRIA, VA. - On Tuesday June 11 and Wednesday June 12, George Washington Middle School Chamber Orchestra students performed alongside the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra at T. C. Williams High School.  This was an educational program for Alexandria City Public School's elementary school students. Jonathan Jones, GWMS Orchestra Director conducted the performances.

There were about 23 GWMS Chamber Orchestra Students and one T. C. Williams High School senior who performed the following pieces: Amadeus! From Symphony No. 25, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; Danse Macabre, Camille San Saens; Phantom of the Opera, Andrew Lloyd Weber; and Jupiter from The Planets, Gustav Holst. Before each selection, Jones talked about the music they were about to hear, some background on each piece, how they could listen for stories within each piece.
