ALEXANDRIA, VA. - In their last match of the regular season, the T. C. Williams High School golf team defeated Mount Vernon High School 173-231 at Army Navy Country Club on Sept. 20. The Titans finished the season as runners-up in the Gunston District with a win-loss record of 6-2, falling only to the undefeated West Potomac Wolverines. The teams meet again in the Gunston District Championship Tournament at Mount Vernon Country Club on Sept. 26-27.

Senior Marc Wagner led the Titans with a score of 35 (even par), followed by sophomore Will Anaya (41), senior Tyler Eggleston (47) and junior Leslie Lytle (47). In addition to finishing in the top four, Lytle also automatically qualified for the 6A North Region tournament joining teammate Hannah Stone in shooting under 50 in a regular season match. Also playing in Wednesday’s match were seniors Milo Devereux and Emma Sapp in recognition of Senior Day.

In a tri-match against West Potomac and Hayfield at Belle Haven Country Club on Sept. 19, T. C. Williams split with a win over Hayfield and a loss to West Potomac. Playing for the Titans were Marc Wagner, Deion Sanchez, Will Anaya, Connor Rex, Tyler Eggleston and Leslie Lytle. As described by T. C. Head Coach John Kennedy, the shot of the day occurred on the last hole as Lytle, playing in the last threesome, placed her tee shot on the final green, a par three more than 60 feet from the pin, lined up the putt and proceeded to drain it into the hole for a birdie finishing two in front of all the players and coaches from West Potomac, Hayfield and T. C. Williams.
