Jenkins, who has been at the helm for 20-plus seasons, has literally sent scores of players to the Division One ranks throughout the years.

The Saints will look to defend their ISL Title in the month of May, dates to be determined.

Regarding Major League Baseball, the Washington Nationals weigh-in at 13-12 overall following a May 2nd 9-3 loss to the Florida Marlins on the road.

The Nats are currently tied for 3rd place in the competitive National League East with the aforementioned Marlins.

As of May 3, the New York Mets lead the Division with a 14-10 record, followed by the Philadelphia Phillies with a 13-10 record.

In the basement of the five-team Division are the Atlanta Braves - currently with an 11-14 record.

The Nats will commence a six game home stand starting on May 4th.

The near-term home schedule is as follows: May 4,5,6 - host Atlanta and May 7,8,9 - host Florida.

(Up the road in the American League East, the Baltimore Orioles swept three games from the Boston Red Sox this past weekend and now weigh-in at 7-18 overall - last place in the very tough Division).

(Baltimore is on the road until May 11th - when they will be back in "Charm City" for three games with the Seattle Mariners, three games with the Cleveland Indians and two games with the Kansas City Royals).

As virtually everyone knows by now, the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League dropped their Eastern Conference quarter-final series to the Montreal Canadiens four games to three to usher in their spring/summer vacation, which started earlier than virtually anyone in D.C., Virginia or Maryland would have anticipated.

Back to Baseball, the best selling book "Nationals On Parade - 70 Years of Washington Nationals Photos" by Mark Stang and Phil Wood (published 2005) - has 208 pages chock full of interesting information.

On page 35, the book talks about the finest pitcher to ever don a Washington baseball uniform - namely Walter Johnson.

To quote from page 35 - "The career statistics compiled by Walter Johnson almost defy description. By the time he retired, Johnson had won 417 games, second only to Cy Young. He won 20 or more games for 10 straight seasons. He threw 110 shutouts, a mark that will never be equalled. He threw 531 complete games, the most by any pitcher in the 20th Century. His 5,923 innings pitched are the most ever in the history of the American League.

Johnson's single season accomplishments also stand out. In 1908, he threw three complete-game shutouts in four days against the New York Highlanders, a feat he later told The Sporting News was his greatest personal achievement."

Much more is detailed about the feats of Walter Johnson in the very entertaining book, which also details scores of other former major league Washington baseball players.
