ALEXANDRIA, VA. —
A tow truck driver was nearly killed after a car struck him on Interstate 395 in Alexandria Monday. He lost part of his leg in the crash but is expected to be ok thanks to a Good Samaritan.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. as heavy rains were creating slick conditions on the roads. The tow truck driver was clearing vehicles from an accident near Seminary Road when the crash happened, Virginia State Police say. A car driver struck the wall before hitting the driver and tow truck.

A Good Samaritan driver stopped to help the injured man, using a belt to compress the wound until first responders arrived, according to WTOP. He also talked so the victim wouldn't become unconscious and helped him call his wife.
