ALEXANDRIA, VA. - Fairfax County Police are investigating a police involved shooting that has left a suspect dead and left rush hour traffic snarled for hours at the junction of Route 1 and I-495.
Fairfax Police told Local Kicks that their officers stopped a vehicle in the 5800 block of Richmond Highway near Fort Hunt Road in the Fairfax County section of Alexandria.
At some point during the traffic stop shots were fired at the suspect, a spokesman said. The suspect was pronounced dead at INOVA Alexandria hospital.
The incident is still under investigation.
