Suspect At Large After Springfield, Lorton Bank Robberies

SPRINGFIELD, VA — A search is underway for a suspect believed to be responsible for two bank robberies in Fairfax County Thursday afternoon, police say.

The robberies happened in Springfield and Lorton after 2 p.m. Police say the Bank of America at 8096 Rolling Road, Springfield was robbed 20 minutes before the Suntrust Bank at 9400 Richmond Highway, Lorton. During both robberies, the suspect implied a gun and demanded cash.

The suspect was only able to get cash from the second bank. He was seen fleeing on foot both times.

He is described as a black man in his 20s around 5 foot 10 with a thin to medium build and wearing a gray zip-up hoodie and dark pants.

A third bank robbery is under investigation in Rose Hill. Police did not say the incident was related.
