ALEXANDRIA, VA.
— A man died after his car crashed and he was struck by oncoming traffic on the Capital Beltway early Saturday, Oct. 6. The crash happened near the Eisenhower Avenue exit on the Alexandria and Fairfax County border, Virginia State Police say.

Around 1:20 a.m., the victim's 2015 Nissan Altima was heading west on the Beltway when it ran off the left side of the interstate and struck the jersey wall. The car came back into the westbound lanes and collided with an RV. After that crash, the victim got out of his car and was struck by traffic.

Witnesses say the initial striking car, described as a red sedan, left the scene. All other vehicles stayed behind.
