Alexandria Inmate Found Dead at State Prison

PETERSBURG, Va. - The Virginia State Police is investigating an unattended death of an inmate resident, 22-year-old Justin L. Davis of Alexandria, at Central State Hospital in Petersburg, the Associated Press reported.

Officials say that Davis was found inside his room by staff members on Sunday, AP reported. An autopsy was conducted Monday by the medical examiner's office in Richmond, but police did not reveal the cause of death.

The Virginia State Police also did not provide details as to why Davis was at the hospital, AP reported.

Special agents with the Virginia State Police, Southside Virginia Training Center and the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services are investigating the incident.
