Can we all shop local and try to keep our local boutiques alive?

I made the decision, I am only shopping local from now on. Please, let's try to help our local businesses. We don't want to see King street turn to just chain and drug stores. We have great stores all over, just make the effort to find them on king street or in the side streets.

Would you go to Pose nightclub at the Gaylord Hotel?

Ok, to go to Pose from Old Town you will have to pay $12 roundtrip on the ferry and then I think there is an nightclub door charge of about $25.00 to get in then the drinks are $10. So you will spend $50.00 to get your first drink. Does that all make sense?

Have you been there?

Bistro Europa Remodel

Bistro Europa has been closed for a couple months. I know the bottom floor was being remodeled but the top was still open for a while. Does anyone know what's up? Are they going to re-open? Will the bottom still be an upscale restaurant and the top a bar?

So, it looks like 100 King closed a few weeks ago. It looks like the building is for sale. A few months ago there was speculation that Neighborhood Restaurant Group was interested in the space. Any new news?

Is the King Street Trolley sustainable?

Is the $750,000 yearly cost of operating and maintaining a King Street Trolley too much?

The city's costs of operation were expected to come from the transportation package approved by the State Legislature last March, but with those funds now scuttled by a long-running Loudoun County suit which was scuttled by the State Supreme Court, where will the money now come from?

Trolley riders ...

The city's budget...too high?

Last Spring, Alexandria City Council adopted a $542 million budget, which provides a 4.3% increase over the FY 2008 budget, and creates about $18 million in new revenue.

The real estate tax was raised by 1.5 cents to 84.5 cents per $100 of assessed value. The adopted budget provided a step increase for eligible employees. The budget funded $3.2 million for full-time city workers to receive a ...

Does the Senate Bill address the root of the problem?

So far Congress has declined to consider meaningful action to stop foreclosures—not even the tax-free option of allowing loan modifications through the court system.

The current bailout proposal—including the one the Senate will vote on this week—will not stop the decline in home prices that drags down the entire economy.

Is this bill a boon to Wall Street, as some say? Does it achieve ...
