Style-mavens and fashion hounds are gearing up for the biggest and popular designer clearance sale of the year – the 7th Annual Old Town Boutique District Warehouse Sale. The one-day shopping extravaganza featuring high-end boutique merchandise will be held at the George Washington Masonic Memorial on Saturday, February 4th from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Shoppers will find the very best brands of clothing, shoes, jewelry, home furnishings and more up to 70 or 80 percent off retail prices. Founded in 2005, the annual clearance sale has attracted a large and loyal audience of shoppers traveling to Alexandria from as far away as Richmond and Pennsylvania. The Art League will feature a special exhibit of photographs taken by this year’s SOHO (Space of Her Own) class from January 28-February 6, 2012. After a basic photography workshop with Art League instructor Allison Duvall, each girl was given a point and shoot camera, a roll of black and white film, and tasked with taking photos of the people, places, and things most significant to them. The images taken were used as a catalyst to write stories about their lives. They went into the darkroom to develop the image that held the most significance to them, and then wrote an accompanying statement or story to go along with their photograph. |
