Not a happy job to be a Washington Redskins cheerleader these days...

By Teri Shulman

Alexandria Virginia - As a true fan and a former public relations consultant to several Washington Redskins, I have been wondering for about ten years the answer to this question: What is the tenure of owner Dan Snyder?

But after the past few weeks and hearing experts such as LaVar Arrington, Jimmy Johnson, Brian Mitchell, John Riggins give their opinion of this dilemma, I am convinced that this is strictly a problem of karma.

Terri Shulman, a longtime fan and former PR
consultant to several Redskin players, has
a few things to say about the team she loves.

Dan Snyder karma, that is.  What other owner in the NFL has sued the fans over a lack of ability to continue their season tickets due to the economy?

If there really is a waiting list of over 100,000 -- as the Redskins keep telling us -- than why not just allow someone to opt out of their contract and give the opportunity to someone on the waiting list?Has there ever been an NFL owner who has tried to sue fans for walking on public sidewalks?

Has there ever been an owner who just treats paying loyal fans like expletive?  So only the Witches of Eastwick can help them now.

You have players crying like babies that the media is too harsh, or as Santana Moss said last week: “Only those who have played the game have a legitimate right to speak. The rest
of us are idiots.” You had Mike “Caveman” Sellers complaining the same way.  What is going on here?

The players have no passion to win, there is no team spirit here and when you watch them play does it look like they even enjoy playing?  I think if I  was paid an obscene amount of money to play the sport that I LOVE, that no matter what the circumstances I would give it my all.

Look at the Cincinnatti Bengles. They have been losers for years and yet last week Ocho Cinco went to Twitter and offered to take any fans who showed up at Outback a free meal on him as well as his team members.

Remember the days of Gary Clark, Art Monk and Charles Mann?

These guys were out in the community on a regular basis just hanging with the fans.  No matter what you think of Brett Farve and his decision to leave, come back, leave and come back,  this guy always has a smile on his face and seems truly happy to be playing and this attitude has been evident his entire career. McNabb appears happy all the time.

And the list goes on and on.

Redskins owner Dan Snyder

Last Sunday, former Coach Jimmy Johnson (who has Super Bowl rings) said as he broke down the Redskins that in every category they are Negative.  The saying What Goes Around Comes Around really rings true for this team. I doubt that if Joe Montana in his prime came to town, the outcome of this team would be any different.  We have been in rebuilding mode since the day Dan Snyder bought this team.

As it stands now we have no draft picks left as we have traded them all away, so we wait until April for the NFL draft and hope for the best.

But if April comes and Vinnie Cerato still has control of our picks and trades we will end up in exactly the same position we are in now.  I have never played professional football but I do know when to use my timeouts, how to manage the clock etc.

Before I close, think about this: Have you ever heard in the entire history of the NFL a coach
coming out and saying that he will no longer speak to the media, that he needs a break?

What is that all about?  So to quote Brian Mitchell: “This is one hell of an avalanche that
is coming down on this team”.

As fans, how much more are we expected to take?  Are we still supposed to support a team that doesn’t care about victory and getting to the Super Bowl?
