STERLING, VA. - A Virginia lottery ticket worth $3 million in the Mega Millions drawing was purchased at Giant Food, 21000 South Bank Street. No one has yet to come forward to claim the prize, according to lottery officials.

The ticket from Tuesday's drawing matched the first five number, missing the Mega Ball number. That normally would garner a second prize of $1 million but whoever bought the ticket paid an extra dollar for the Megaplier, and the number was 3x, thus tripling the booty. The winning numbers were 11-17-59-70-72 with a Mega Ball number of 1. The ticket was the only one in Virginia to match the first five numbers, and one of two nationwide. The owner of the ticket has 180 days from Sept. 5 to claim the winnings. No ticket matched all six numbers for the $61 million jackpot, which now increases to $70 million for Friday's drawing.
