PenFed President and CEO James Schenck was named the 2018 Large Business Philanthropist of the Year and Jen Walker of the Jen Walker Team was named the 2018 Small Business Philanthropist of the Year at the 20th Annual Business Philanthropy Summit on Wednesday. Sponsored by Volunteer Alexandria, this year’s Summit brought together more than 250 Alexandria businesses and non-profits. Rebecca Cooper, CEO and founder of Capital Insights LLC and President and CEO of RCD Productions was the emcee for this year’s event.

“We are incredibly pleased to have two of the most accomplished and eminent businesses receiving the award. They both are changing the lives of many people in a way that matters to them,” said Marion Brunken, Executive Director, Volunteer Alexandria.

Schenck shared the award with PenFed Credit Union and the PenFed Foundation in recognition of their combined support and volunteer efforts in the Greater Washington DC area. “I am extremely humbled and honored to accept this award on behalf of the entire PenFed team: 2,500 employees who give more of themselves each and every day than they ever ask in return. I am personally energized to come to work each day because I work for PenFed and we live and lead by a simple philosophy: ‘People Helping People,’” Schenck said. “If there is one thing I learned in life and as CEO, it is that driven, passionate people can really make a difference. Together as a team, they are unstoppable.”
