ALEXANDRIA, VA. - On Dec. 7 at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center, the local non-profit community health center Neighborhood Health, formerly known as Alexandria Neighborhood Health Services, was joined by 300 community partners, current and previous board members, donors, and supporters to celebrate its 20th anniversary of service to the community. Neighborhood Health delivers high-quality health care to low-income residents of Alexandria, Arlington County and Fairfax County.

The demand for services is very high. Fifty percent of Neighborhood Health’s patients do not have health insurance. Neighborhood Health provides primary medical care, dental services, behavioral health counseling, lab services, access to free and low-cost medications, assistance with applying for health insurance, and case management for patients with HIV. Neighborhood Health has embarked upon an ambitious goal to serve 21,000 children and adults by the end of 2018, which represents a 50% growth from 2016.

Neighborhood Health Board President Keith Hearle thanked everyone who has contributed to the organization over the last 20 years including community partners, donors, foundations, staff, board members, patients, and volunteers. “We would certainly not be where we are today without your support and we appreciate it,” Hearle said.
