WASHINGTON - Vendors are using junk cars to hold illegal spots for their food trucks during the week and weekend.

The junker cars are blocking rush hour travel lanes and have amassed thousands of dollars in unpaid tickets. But DC parking enforcement officers rarely request a tow.

In the course of an investigation, ABC7 found that not only are the junker cars parked in illegal spots daily, but the license plates often don't belong to the vehicles on it.

The cars receive tickets in the tow zones along the National Mall and 14th Street, but aren't removed.
