ALEXANDRIA, VA. —
Alexandria and other areas of the region were pounded with heavy rain, resulting in flooding and dangerous road conditions Monday morning. Heavy rain in a short amount of time prompted a flash flood warning for Alexandria and surrounding areas. A flash flood warning is in effect until 1:45 p.m. in Alexandria.

Flooding is happening around streams, particularly in the Cameron Run area, according to the National Weather Service. Areas susceptible to flooding include small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses, other drainage areas and low-lying spots. Residents living near creeks and streams should take immediate steps to protect themselves and their property.
