ALEXANDRIA, VA. - Celebrate and support Alexandria’s heritage at the second Historic Alexandria Museum Gala next month.

The Office of Historic Alexandria promises an exciting evening of dining, dancing and entertainment.  It will be held on Saturday, February 6, from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Old Town, 625 First Street in Alexandria.

With the theme of “Making History in Alexandria,” the gala honors Alexandria’s rich past and the City’s commitment to preserving and sharing its historic resources. The memorable evening will begin with a cocktail hour featuring period musical performers and a display of museum collection items specifically selected by the museum directors. Following a four-course dinner, guests will enjoy dancing to the 1930s swinging sound of the Doc Scantlin and his Imperial Palms Orchestra, featuring the enchanting songstress Chou Chou.

Ticket prices begin at $150 a person and include cocktails, dinner and dancing at the Holiday Inn Old Town. Guests with tickets at the gold level of $300 are invited to an exclusive pre-gala reception at the historic Old Town home of Mark and Ann Kington, who live in the late 18th-century home where Robert E. Lee grew up.

The Historic Alexandria Museum Gala is coordinated by the Historic Alexandria Resources Commission. Proceeds will benefit the preservation and educational programs of Alexandria’s historic sites and museums, including the Alexandria Archaeology Museum, Alexandria Archives and Records Center, Alexandria Black History Museum, The Athenaeum, Carlyle House Historic Park, Fort Ward Museum and Historic Site, Freedom House Museum, Friendship Firehouse Museum, Gadsby's Tavern Museum, Lee-Fendall House and Garden, The Lyceum, and Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum.
