The Dairy Godmother's Twitter, er, Custard Crew.

Shortly after President Barack Obama came to Liz Davis' popular custard shop in Del Ray two weeks ago, one of the first things she began to do was Twitter.

Within minutes of Obama's arrival in his first visit to Alexandria as President, frantic texting, Twitters and cell phone calls had drawn over 200 people to the quiet sidewalks of Mount Vernon Avenue

A day after Obama picked up custards at The Dairy
Godmother, tourists and locals alike swarmed the place.

After Davis had ordered her staff to don clean aprons and tidy up the place, and several Secret Service sharpshooters had positioned themselves on the rooftop of the The Dairy Godmother on Mount Vernon Avenue, a 12-car motorcade rolled up to her shop and the Leader of the Free World strolled in with his two daughters.

"I've heard the custard is wonderful here," Obama said as he strolled up to the counter to place his order.

On a muggy Saturday before Father's Day, Obama brought his two daughters, Sasha, 8, and Malia, 10, in for the sweet treats, snacking on vanilla custard with hot fudge and toasted almonds in a cup.

Davis, as it turned out, Twittered the whole thing, which you can read bit by bit right here:

While the Secret Service allowed a few customers in during the Presidential visit, the hounds of the White House media were forced to cool their heels on the blue benches outside, shooting their photos through the shop's window.  "I was, like, can't you just let the dude have his custard?" Davis laughed.

Customers took photos on their cell phone cameras as the First Family quietly ate their frozen treats at a table in the corner, and Obama shook hands with a few customers and posed for pictures.

As they were leaving, Davis gave them some "puppy pops," frozen puppy treats for the family's dog, Bo.

"It was really fun to have the President in," said Davis. "We here in Washington get to see the motorcades and the pageantry of high office nearly every day, so I was very excited for some of my teenage employees to see him. My employees work so hard."
And Twitter hard, too, apparently.
